THE CAVENDER DIARY

Jamie’s third show horse, when he was in his early 20’s, was a 2 year old paint named Olieos Partner.  He got him from Doug Horton at the Rocky Top Ranch, with the intent to travel with him in competitions across the country.  Jamie started to show him almost immediately and after several years of work , he reached number 10 in the nation in amateur overall paints. This custom portrait of Oileos Partner, or “Wilbur” as they called  him on the circuit,  was the prize for the Highest Point Amateur  in the state of  Texas in 1987.  After almost 25  years on his parent’s wall over the computer, he moved to our living room.  I Love it ….if I had seen this painting in an antique shop, I would have bought it immediately. ( honestly, I would have talked about buying it for weeks…then gone back after it was long gone )

I Ab-So-Lutely Love this picture of Jamie on Wilbur….pretty sure that it’s the little red western bowtie. That, and he looks like such a baby – even with the sweet-stache.
