So many DVDs

Combining all our movies was a challenge , so we built modern racks out of 1×6 boards and stained them dark. The wall in Jamie’s office was just the right size , with a little room left over for a few more .

Finally got that sawhorse desk I have been waiting on …..they were having a sale at West Elm. It fills the space next to the bed perfectly ….paired it with a vintage Mercel Brewer chair.

Breakfast Room Pendant

We took down the old homeowners 50 cent light fixture, and of course the hole in the ceiling was enormous and off center. It was also screwed directly into the drywall and not an electric box. I moved the hole over few inches and attached a new box to the crossbeam about 6 inces up into the attic. I used foamcore to patch the old hole ( I’m getting really good at patching holes, but I use drywall now). I wanted to use an Edison light bulb in a pendant for years and finally have a place to hang one. The Saarinen Ikea table is perfect with the vintage Mercel Brewer chairs that have numbered “University of Texas at Austin” plaques on them. Pendant from West Elm and Edison light bulb only 9$ at Potterybarn.com.

Saint Joseph the Provider

Saint Joseph the Provider

Saint Joseph the Provider

Jamie found this little guy burried in the front yard while he was planting some rosemary yesterday. Turns out that he is Saint Joseph the provider. As a Catholic boy, I knew that Joseph was the patron saint of fathers and the dead. But I had no idea that he was also called upon to help people sell thier houses by being burried upside-down amongst crepe myrtles. I have saints and crosses in almost every room, so it is kind of comforting to know that the previous owner and I have even more in common.

Master Bedroom

scraping the popcorn
the dust was everywhere
New fan and a fesh coat of khaki paint

Ok, everything from both households has been moved to the garage for staging and editing. There is a small path through the stacks of boxes and limited access to the washer/dryer. We keep making jokes about the show “Hoarders” filming an episode here.

Jamie spent 2 days scraping the popcorn off the master bedroom ceiling, he is still coughing. Thankfully, that was the biggest room with popcorn ceilings; the hallway and master bath are both pretty small. After some debate, we opted not to put he bed under the window as I had originally planned, it just didn’t “look” right. It would have blocked too much natural light. Limited closet space equals pegrack of jackets on the wall…….no biggie, we spend more money on clothes than art anyhoo. The black sisal rug grounds the room, keeps it dark, moody and masculine. Still waiting on the chrome sawhorse desk for the side of the bed, and pretty sure that I will add crown moulding and can lights in the next few weeks.
