Yesterday TheCavenderDiary.com hit half a million site views.
Pretty big milestone for us.
The first year of blogging we only had about 1,000 views. (those were mostly our mothers) We never expected to have half a million people reading about us.
4 years ago I had pretty limited photography and WordPress skills. It was all a little weak in the beginning, and Jamie wrote most of the posts. I still remember how shocked we were the first time we had a follower that neither of us knew personally. The first time we were featured on another blog, Jamie and I stayed up ’till midnight watching our traffic meter go up……think it reached about 400 views that day. We were ecstatic.
It’s a weird/challenging/odd/rewarding/difficult/glorious thing to blog about your life.
Most days it takes a tremendous amount of effort. So many times we’ve been covered in sweat, attic insulation, saw dust, potting soil, spackle, grout, paint, stain, or drywall remanats…….when I have to stop, grab the camera and restage the whole act, then crop/edit the photos, think of something witty to say, type all those witty things, edit the hell out of it, and when I’m sure the story makes sense from beginning to end…….post it all in a timely manner.
And for who (Whom?) have we been keeping this virtual diary for?
For you people who have been laughing with us and our home-owning escapades (or possibly laugh at us).
Occasionally we’ll get an email from a reader saying they liked this or that, and it thrills us to death. We want to reach people with our same interests. That’s what it’s all about.
We’d love to know who’s stalking us, or even just glancing occasionally…..So leave a comment and say, “Howdy”.
If you have a blog, then post a link so we can visit you too, if not…….. just let us know that you’re here.
And thank you all for reading these past few years…..
We’re so glad that you found us.
