Last week we had the good fortune to have a picture of our den featured in an article on the HOUZZ site.
The article was titled, “Beautiful Clutter? These 13 Rooms Say Go for It”
“Gasp”…..I didn’t know that we had “clutter”…..I just thought we had a large amount of “cool-ass stuff”.
Apparently, the post set off quite a debate about cleanliness vs. clutter.

Don’t forget to read the comments…they get a little “snippy”…so much so, that the HOUZZ editors have erased a few of them from the post.

Don’t know what’s going on w/ Word Press. But oh my! Had to laugh at some of those extreme comments. I threw a comment of my own into the mix. 🙂 And I’d hire you as a decorator any time!
I have been getting updates everytime there is a new comment…and Houzz has been (editing) them…you either like stuff or you don’t … no ones feeling will get hurt if you don’t
Loved seeing your home pictured there….some of the people were wound up way too tight if you ask me…..I love your place….!
Vickie, they were so upset by the pictures. We “live” in our home….it’s not a sterile showplace…..or there would be just 1 picture on the wall and 1 pillow in each corner of the sofa.
I somehow was linked to your blog and LOVE your home. I feel like your home would offer so much interest for the eye to a visitor and is clearly filled with things you both love. It looks very comfortable and inviting! I don’t like clutter, but I don’t view your rooms as clutter…..just well appointed!
Thanks Elizabeth, I think our stuff is “well layered”….Everything has a story, like a scrapbook we live in. Friends come over and see things they have never noticed before.
Sadly when someone allows open comments on their website the haters will come out of the closet.
It happens all the time no matter what the website is about. I happen to love your style and that is why I chose to follow you both in your decorating endeavors. Please don’t let the haters get you down.
