I know, I know..
We should be working on the master bathroom, and we are….slowly.
But there have been some actual accomplishments around the Cavender House over the past few months that I feel I should share with y’all.
Like the concrete pavers in the backyard.
Remember last summer when we had our new backyard deck built (Y’all can refresh your memory about that here.) and we had to remove the old, tiny sidewalk with a jackhammer? (Read about that adventure here)
Well we decided to add a few concrete pavers for the walkway to the driveway from the deck. After a bit of hesitation on both out parts….we out-sourced that job out too. Thank the maker for our contractor/neighbor Mike. He and his partner Kenny swooped in and framed out 6 pavers with 2X4s in much less time than it would have taken these boys.
Filling them with concrete was up to us……
Or so we thought.
It was hard….
I mean, REALLY hard. I had just come off the fiasco of our shower floor misadventure. And Jamie was exhausted after mixing Quikrete and filling just one square.
So we convinced paid Mike/Kenny to fill in the other 5.
Which they did.
Again, with hardly any effort. (That’s Mike in the yellow hat there surveying his work)
Jamie’s square looks a little …..rough…..comparatively.
But we’re OK with that. He’s not a professional.
Once the concrete was set, Jamie pulled up the framework, laid new sod, some metal flashing, and one of my favorite things on earth….pea pebbles.
Just feast your eyes on this gloriousness now…..
We love it so much that we’re thinking about doing pavers in a few more places now….
Maybe the walk to the front door…and on the other side of the garage…..and by the tool shed/potting bench.
Someday.
Because we really should get finish with our last project.
More on that to come.
