Every time I walk buy this thing at Target…..I pause,
Jamie says, “Just buy it.”….as he always does.
Sure, I have plenty (And I mean PLENTY) of things to fil it with, but not one inch of available wall space.
Too bad,
So I’m sitting at my desk, as I usually am, surrounded by a million very important things……
These, specific very important things…..
And it hits me……”Why does it have to hang on a wall?”
It doesn’t…..and now it sits on my desk.
Now everything that inspires me is right where I can see it; the cowboys from my birthday cake 20 years ago, Luke and Leia that I played with as a kid, a tiki from Maui, the bracelet I bought in Phoenix, and several gifts from dear friends.
Wanna learn more out some of this crap, I mean, very important stuff?
Read about my Steiff bear, Zuni fetish, St Labre celuloid indians, Fred Harvey pins, and Frankoma pottery.
Genius!
Dude, you have some of the best crap! The display is genius…somehow, the multiple decades of paraphernalia blend quite nicely in the cubby. .
Hi. I love the shelf too and have been trying to figure out a way to use it as well. So far I can’t ;-( I’m curious about your cute bear. Did you buy it online or elsewhere? I’ve checked on eBay and they are pretty pricey but I think my 18 year old son at college in Santa Fe would appreciate it. He loves the book and movie Brideshead Revisited and there is a bear in it who is taken along everywhere one of the main characters goes. You should check it out. Great post as always. I enjoy keeping up with you guys.
Best,

Hi Debbie, you’re thinking about Sebastian Flyte’s bear, Aloysius. That’s a dear friend of mine’s favorite book. If I rememebr correctly, in the book, Sebastian was buying a hairbrush to spank his naughty bear with. I bought my bear online a few years ago, got a GREAT price…I couldn’t resist. But yeah, they can be a little pricey. Look into Steiff bears, they are the best….
Oh so very perfect….major envy!!
Oh, I really need one of those but don’t live near a Target. Looking online right now!
Wow it’s looks great. And thanks again you just cost me $50. Lol
It’s a crap corral!! Love it. And I love that I can see my little gift to you.
Mwah!

I love it!
Of course we do! I am assuming your desk is in a spot most guests don’t get to see? Shame if it is I could spend a bit of time just having a good peruse!
Nice job!
You have more toys than any man ever! I only have one toy jar containing my small “toys” but I love the way you have corralled all your crap!
Wow, this looks like a page out of an I Spy book. This would make a neat birthday card if you worked in the letters Happy Birthday and took a picture of it. That could be the front of the card with a personal message inside. How very cool…
I SPY!!!!!!!! That’s the book series I was thinking of!!!!I LOVE those books, and YES…..I thought it looked like one of those too.
Looks great! Your treasures really pop in their own cubbies.
I love it when people think beyond the obvious, in this case, a cubby made to hang on the wall, now sits on your desk to hold the stuff you had on it and it looks fabulous.
BTW, your desk is tidier than mine at the moment.
I love it when a guy thinks outside of the box with stuff like this. Good going. You not only got what you liked, but it also took care of the stuff piling up on your desk to display in a better way, a win, win if you ask me.
Holy dang! That looks great! As a gemini, I really dig organized chaos….this is fabulous! Thank you so much for sharing with all of us! Wow!
Erik, as a Scorpio, I dig organized chaos as well……
Anybody know where I can find one of these target doesn’t sell them anymore
Pottery Barn has a similar one, but the cubbies look a little smaller. I have been searching Ebay hoping to get another Target one. So please, if you do find a source…let me know. 🙂
