……and neither of us even smokes.
When I saw this picture from Roger and Chris’s 160 year-old Victorian home tour…..
….I knew that I needed one of those Frankoma arrow head ashtrays. (Like I need anything else)
I’ve written about my obsession with the now defunct Frankoma pottery company a few times.
Took a while of cruising eBay, but I scored one for myself…….pale green glaze, and cheap too.
Now I finally have enough..
With that settled, let me introduce y’all to Roger and Chris, and the 160 year-old Victorian they refurbished in Sharon Springs, NY.
…and their pink Isetta too,
Isn’t that place just awesome?
Never in a million years would I think to paint a house black with a hot-pink door…….but it works. (Oooh, it looks like the house and trim are 2 different shades of black, but they’re really just flat vs semi-glass)
And the inside of the place?….Just the right amount of junk, and color, mid-century, and antique.
Swoon,
I’ve been following these boys since they lived in Austin a few years ago. Check out that house here. (I think that I might actually like it better)
Oh yeah, and follow their design adventures on their blog, RogerandChris.com.
I love that you are using the ashtray in the kitchen….a spoon rest? Such a good idea.
“Spoon rest” it is !
Another Fab find and that house…..To Die For.
Aren’t those boys just the coolest? Glad you like it too.
Aww, thanks guys! And I’m a little jealous of your arrowhead ashtray/spoon rest. Ours has a big “ARKANSAS” written on the side. In fairness, we did find it in Arkansas. 🙂
Awwwww shucks, Chris. Now ya got me wondering what other states they made them for. Guess I’ll just have to find them all. Thanks for the constant inspiration.
Cheese and Rice, guys! NOW WE NEED an arrowhead ashtray…and we don’t smoke either! And I thought we had everything! Will be fun looking! And thanks for the heads-up on more beautiful houses! Lovin’ it!
Glad that you liked their place too. Lots of eye-candy in that one.
I started reading your blog last year from beginning to end { I know, I’m dedicated 😉 } and of all things for my first comment to be— it’s about an ash tray. I also have a love for Frankoma, but even more so for ash trays. I am more so a minimalist than anything else but for some reason I find myself bringing home random ashtrays that are never used AS ashtrays. It looks like I’ll be on an internet hunt this afternoon….
Hi Jana, small world…..I just found your blog last week! Gotta love Frankoma, and the thrill of any hunt. 🙂
“The Cavender Diary” has been included in our Sites To See #435. Be assured that we hope this helps to point many new visitors in your direction.

I, too, love Roger + Chris’ homes, both in Austin + NY. Their current decor features one fabric — a black ticking stripe cotton — repeated throughout the house. Genius! I plan to do said-same with dark blue ticking. Perhaps I can find + buy a bolt of said-same.
I’m glad you picked up on that. Not too many folks have noticed. 🙂
I’m just nuts about their style too , Kay.
